[post_content] => This apartment is on the first floor of a 14th-century-old building in the welcoming Santa Croce district in the heart of Old Town Florence.
After a careful renovation a few years ago, this apartment maintains its ancient charm.

The apartment is reachable via comfortable stone stairs. It is composed by :
.entrance,
.large living room
.kitchen
.two bedrooms
.two bathrooms
.terrace/loggia overlooking pleasant interior spaces
The apartment is 107 square meters in size, plus the terrace space.

It is in excellent condition and retains the charm of old Florence buildings with high coffered decorated ceilings and typical exposed wooden beams.
The high ceilings in the main rooms allow you to gain even more space thanks to two mezzanines, to use as a comfortable study and additional sleeping area.
Air conditioning and independent heating system.

It has an enviable location: it is, in fact, in a famous 13th century square in the historic center of Florence, the heart of the possessions of one of the most powerful Florentine Families of the Renassaince. For the suggestion it creates, for its secluded character, for the presence of buildings of ancient origins, this small square is considered of historical and artistic value.
In this context stands the fascinating historic building that houses our apartment. In the forms it took following a radical intervention in the eighteenth century, the palace belonged to the Florentine Salutati family, and here lived Coluccio Salutati, Chancellor of the Florentine Republic in the 14th century.
This small square is a few tens of meters from the majestic square of Santa Croce, where there is one of the most important Cathedrals, full of art treasures.

This apartment can be a profitable investment both for private purposes and tourist hospitality activities.
There are services of any sort in the same area, such as schools, universities, medical centers, hospitals, etc. They all keep the old charm: modern stores and post offices are in old functional buildings with discretion and maximum attention to aesthetic and cultural consistency.

The location of the apartment in the Old Center of Florence is a unique plus.
The district of Santa Croce is one of the historic district's southeast of the center of Florence. It is very popular with tourists and locals alike for its welcoming and familiar atmosphere.
The heart of it is the majestic Basilica that gave the neighborhood its name: Santa Croce in Florence. Santa Croce is commonly named the "Temple of Italian Glories," with museums and adjacent chapels where prominent figures such as Michelangelo, Machiavelli, and Galileo are buried.
The vast square in front of the Basilica hosts every year in June the famous "Calcio in Costume" (football festival celebration of the 14th-century version of the soccer matches) and cultural events of all kinds.
In addition to all this, there is an entire neighborhood to discover. You will find Piazza dei Ciompi and the lively S.Ambrogio market a few steps from the square. In the same area, there are the Synagogue and the University Zone. The streets of this downtown Florence area are full of workshops, theaters, art galleries, and historical artifacts on every corner.
The monumental area of the Florence Cathedral and Piazza Della Signoria is just a few hundred meters from the apartment.
The Santa Croce district is also famous for shopping. You will find small antique stores, vintage boutiques, artisan stores, photographers, and framers, all in a typical Florentine style.

Logistics.
Getting around the neighborhood is easy, especially on foot.
However, there is an excellent taxi and minibus service to get you anywhere, in and out of the center.
The Santa Maria Novella train station is only a 10-minute walk away.
The train station is a critical junction to go all over Italy. From here, trains often leave for Rome, Milan, Bologna, Pisa, and all major airports.
Florence airport is only 15 km away. The tramway takes you directly to the center in just over 20 minutes.

A house art museum in Florence Italy

The building belonged to wealthy Florentine families over the centuries. It shows all the nobility of its history and is an emblematic expression of the Renaissance period. After crossing the mighty entrance door, a vast archway adorned with oversized lights and a wrought iron gate from the late nineteenth century. You can glimpse a suggestive glimpse of the charming internal courtyard through it. On one of the vertical walls of the court, a fresco is visible by the renowned painter of the 1600s, Baldassare Franceschini, known as the Volterrano, which includes an oversized coat of arms with the symbol of the Medici-Della Rovere Family. The well-kept and elegant condominium consists of only nine residential units. The interiors and exteriors of the building still show the beautiful forms conferred on it by the sixteenth-century architectural interventions, which as for many facilities that overlook the street, give unity to the style of the whole context. The Palace appears in the list drawn up in 1901 by the Italian General Directorate of Antiquities and Fine Arts as a monumental building considered National Artistic Heritage and has been subject to architectural protections since 1914.

The center of Florence: between art and Renaissance culture

The pedestrian street (strictly without cars) where our building is is one of the main routes from the Santa Croce district towards Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Della Signoria and vice versa. It is of great historical and artistic value due to the - incredible but true - presence of as many as 29 historic buildings, formerly convents, boarding schools, residences of the most powerful Florentine families of the Middle Ages, and then of the Renaissance.   The street is a kind of open-air museum. At every meter they trace historical artifacts of historical value and interest, iconographic presences attributed to artists of the caliber of Domenico Veneziano, Benozzo Gozzoli, Sandro Botticelli and Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio. Towards the southern part of the street opens the small square of San Pier Maggiore, today manned by a lively fruit and vegetable market, artisan shops, antique dealers, and restaurants. This part retains the appearance of a small commercial and folk borough compared to the residential and noble one that characterizes the rest of the street.   The location is in the heart of the city. The property is halfway between the Santa Croce district and Piazza del Duomo. It is an area much loved by tourists and locals, on the one hand for its powerful historical and noble character and the other for the welcoming and familiar atmosphere that you breathe. On the one hand, you arrive at the most prestigious monuments and museums of Piazza del Duomo and Piazza Della Signoria; on the other hand, you arrive at Piazza dei Ciompi and the lively S.Ambrogio market. The Synagogue and the Zona Universitaria are in the same area, reachable through streets dotted with workshops, theaters, art galleries, and hidden gardens. In this district, there is also a lot to discover for shopping: everywhere, you will find small antique shops, original boutiques of Vintage, workshops of artisans, photographers, and framers, all in a typically Florentine style.   Discover Santa Croce Discover San Giovanni   Why buy an apartment in the center of Florence. The center of Florence: between art and Renaissance culture

Above all, the building is in Via Della Pergola, where you can find the magnificent Theater and several testimonies of the past. To the right of the main entrance of the Teatro Della Pergola, at number 12, a plaque recalls that on the evening of March 14, 1847, Giuseppe Verdi conducted the first performance of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The Teatro Della Pergola was born in the seventeenth century thanks to the initiative of the Accademia degli Immobili, whose aims were artistic and cultural, oriented to different disciplines: music, mathematics, acting, reading, and representation of comedies. Before becoming a splendid temple of culture, the large room housed a pulling house owned by the Arte Della Lana, one of the seven significant arts of the guilds of arts and crafts of Florence in the Renaissance period. The works of the Theater, designed by the architect Ferdinando Tacca, were started in 1656 and concluded in 1661 to host some of the celebratory events of Cosimo III's wedding with Margherita d'Orleans.

Florence, Italy: culture and tradition

In a wooden structure, the Theater had a large stage. It exhibited three tiers of boxes supported by a large loggia, making it the first architectural example of an "Italian" theater. A series of rooms and courtyards made the environment soundproof from the neighboring streets. It could accommodate over a thousand people, housed in the boxes and in the loggia open to the stalls, where the audience sat on fixed benches and in two distinct sectors to separate the male audience from the female one. In the center of the room, there was the area reserved for the most illustrious members of the Academy. In the nineteenth century, La Pergola expanded its activities to singing, dance, and opera, setting up high-quality programs with Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini, Pacini, Ricci, etc. Since 1925, the Teatro Della Pergola has been a national monument. There are many other points of interest in this street. At number 59, you will discover the plaque affixed to the building, reminding us that Benvenuto Cellini created Perseus in those environments and died here in 1471.     Discover San Giovanni   [post_title] => An Entire Building for Sale in a Prestigious Street of Old Town Florence [post_excerpt] => [post_status] => publish [comment_status] => open [ping_status] => closed [post_password] => [post_name] => an-entire-building-for-sale-in-a-prestigious-street-of-old-town-florence [to_ping] => [pinged] => [post_modified] => 2022-03-15 17:32:21 [post_modified_gmt] => 2022-03-15 16:32:21 [post_content_filtered] => [post_parent] => 0 [guid] => https://victoria-house.it/?post_type=estate_property&p=39726 [menu_order] => 0 [post_type] => estate_property [post_mime_type] => [comment_count] => 0 [filter] => raw ) [5] => WP_Post Object ( [ID] => 39631 [post_author] => 2 [post_date] => 2021-12-07 20:52:12 [post_date_gmt] => 2021-12-07 19:52:12 [post_content] =>
